Product Development Guide

BUENA PARK, CA: Trim-Lok, Inc has purchased the Industrial Product Business Segment of Spartan Plastics, a division of Avery Dennison. This allows Trim-Lok to expand its already vast lines of extruded parts by introducing a new line of plastic extrusions known as Industrial Extrusions.

The new line of plastic extrusions and co-extrusions specializes in Flexible PVC, Rigid PVC, Polystyrene, ABS, and TPE. The use of these materials allows the new line to provide customers with the highest quality products for any custom application that may include the use of high gloss, low gloss, glass filled, high impact, UL-HB, and UV resistant materials. This is why the new line of plastic extrusions is a great fit under the Trim-Lok umbrella; it gives Trim-Lok the ability to expand their current line of custom extrusions to their large customer base.

Spartan Plastics was located in Ontario, Canada; owned by Avery Dennison. Towards the end of December, it was released that Spartan Plastics did not fit with Avery’s business model and would be shutting down. Trim-Lok, Inc. has put those thoughts away, and has set their goals on growing their already wide product offerings under the Trim-Lok name.

Dan Whitener, Director of Marketing and Product Development, states, “This acquisition allows us to enter existing markets that we already serve, with new products, while expanding our existing customer base.” The new line of products will consist of plastic extrusions for the automotive, marine, construction, furniture, and appliance industries. There is a long list of products that the new line will be providing to Trim-Lok customers including, but not limited to: body trims and moldings, fender trims and moldings, pin striping, decorative trims, as well as chrome and black edge guards.

Trim-Lok is the leading manufacturer of vinyl and rubber extrusions for over 33 years. Uses include finishing and protecting rough edges, sealing against leaks, minimize effects of vibrations, and decorative Mylar applications. Now their expertise will be used to develop and grow their new line, Industrial Extrusions.
